Bloating has been a concern in my body even after I changed my diet. Getting in touch with my body has help me to identify the different type of bloatings. I know, it sounds bizarre but it happens. When I was studying at IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition) I learned from Stephan Rechtschaffen, MD and cofounder of the Omega Institute, about elimination diet. His recommendation was removing for seven days gluten sources, milk, citrus and eggs. Then, after the seven days, start to include each ingredient at a time into your diet and feel reactions in your body. sMy heart was pointing gluten and that’s what I did. I only remove gluten.
One of my bloatings that concerns me the most was the one who stays in my body for a long period of time, it was so uncomfortable. I was not feeling pain or gassy it was only like if I suddenly gain weight and having a belly like if I were pregnant. I decided to remove gluten and see what happens. I indeed, ended the symptoms. I quit mainly bread but gluten is almost everywhere. I didn’t want to go on panic so I keep monitoring my body. I know and I have read that Gluten is a fact and even few amount can react in your body. It might, but in my body sometimes the reactions are different. Definitely bread is the worst. It being hard, I miss bread.
I started to look for other option and it’s nice having alternatives. I’m still in the process of accepting the change and definitely I will keep experimenting with my body. It nice feeling that close to it.
What I have learned from this experience is that choosing foods in my present is under a different criteria. How they make me feel? Which are the sensation that my body is experimenting? And believe me I’m definitely not sacrificing taste.
